Title: GTI International, Shakespeare County Raceway 06-07 July
Post by: dubber36 on 04 December 2012, 16:16
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

A new beginning for GTI International at the Shakespeare County Raceway near Stratford-upon-Avon!!

* Outstanding safety for sprint spectators with grandstand seating for 3,000
* Sprinting on one of the best tracks in Europe
* New low prices!

For the past eight years, GTI International has been held at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire. Although one of the most successful events in it's history, this year’s event was marred by an unfortunate accident on the Sprint which resulted in three spectators being injured.

We don’t want anything like this to EVER happen again and so we are moving GTI International 2013 to the Shakespeare County Raceway, near Stratford on Avon, one of Britain’s top drag racing venues. With full MSA accreditation, full-time medical centre, extremely experienced staff and a wonderful smooth and level surface, sprinting at GTI International will be faster, and much safer, than ever before!

It won’t be just about the Sprint, though. All the usual Inters attractions will be there: massive trade area, handling arena, show ‘n’ shine and a huge camping area with a section for those who want more peace and quiet.

Entry to the Show on the day will cost £15 instead of £20 and this comes down even further, to £12.50, if you BOOK IN ADVANCE!!!. And, as a special Christmas offer, the day tickets will be available for just £10 for a limited weekend in December.

We’ve also brought down the cost of camping. For one night, this will be £35 and, for two nights, £40, these prices including entry to the show. These prices come down to £29 and £33.50 if you book in advance and the special Christmas offer brings these prices down even further to £23.50 and £27 respectively!

Sprint prices are also down, compared to recent years, despite the fact that the track itself is far superior to the runway at Bruntingthorpe and the timing system gives much more information to each competitor.

A single Sprint run will now cost £5 and a ticket for a half day, with as many runs as you can pack in, will cost £15. A full day’s sprinting, again packing in as many runs as you can manage, will cost £25 and a full weekend’s sprinting will be £40.

All of these measures are designed to make GTI International safer, less expensive and more enjoyable than ever before.

You will be able to find out more and more about GTI International 2013 from the website (coming soon) and in the pages of Volkswagen and Audi Driver magazines, or you can leave messages here.

Hopefully this will be the start of something new and fresh for Inters.

Should be much better for the Sprint as the surface at Bruntingthorpe was awful, no grip. I think the change of venue is a good thing as personally was a bit bored of Bruntingthorpe  :lipsrsealed:

Pretty sure they're already on sale, but if your wanting to go on club stand ya might have to wait until a stand is confirmed. I'm tempted to enter into the show n shine this year.

So far I have found a Shell Petrol Station, which may serve a brew, but not too sure of anything else.

Its address is - Shipston Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. CV37 7LP (which is on the approach to the Raceway)

There isnt a great deal else close by, only the likes of Tesco's and Waitrose, and you'll be lucky to get anything from there early doors on the Sunday.  If anyone has any other idea, please let me know.

I'll be there for about 08:30, along with JV, and maybe Blue....

1, Me
2, JV
3, Blue (maybe....)

It was just as hot today too. So many people couldn't be arsed to do anything other than just sit around. I cleaned my car in the concourse until about 9:00, then sat by it while it cast a bit of shadow, then went over and sat in TDI Sports gazebo. We had a wonder round the trade stands, but it really was too hot to be bothered to look at or buy anything.

We left before we knew the results of the concourse, but from what I gather, the same old faces won. There's a suprise. When will they have a section for standard daily drivers? There's either the show and shine for those with £10k paint, wheels and air, and the concourse for pampered cars that never get driven. Nothing in between.
Title: Re: GTI International, Shakespeare County Raceway 06-07 July
Post by: Ginge 35Edition on 07 July 2013, 18:31
That's exactly what we were saying yesterday. They need to have a 'un-modified daily driver' section.

Was there many in the mk6/mk3 category today?

To be honest I didn't look round the show and shine cars Neil. It's all a bit same old, same old to me.

I was in the concourse, which is supposed to be for standard cars. The trouble is, there was a bunch of us in genuine, used every day with kids in the back, made to look as presentable as they could, up against pampered cars that only see the light of day for shows. No suprises that the same cars won again that always do.

Years ago, show and shine was for daily drivers and the concourse was just that. Nowadays there is nowhere for the likes of yours and mine to fit in and get any sort of recognition.

Rant over...for now.

I see where you are coming from. There was a huge difference in some of the cars there & you can see the ones taht only come out twice a year compared to a daily! Crazy really...

I was walking by the TTRS OC stand just after 2 of them had come of the strip, pissed off that they were only getting 11.8s

I was chatting to one of the blokes for a while, he seemed like a 'nice' guy, but from first opinions he seemed like a little f**k who literally splashing £££ left right and centre! Hell knows where they get it from, the guy looked about 26 and I heard him say to his mate 'yea once I'v spent about another £3k on it it should be where I want it.'

Cheque book tuningggg to quote someone else  :undecided:

I enjoyed the show though, had a good couple of hours wondering around, jumble wasn't that great but there were some real good deals to be had at the trade stands!

Jealously and general rage rant.

Well i thought it was a bit of a disaster TBH, they advertised that there would be a family camping area and kids entertainment area so i said to wife we should go for the weekend and take the kids. So we camped sat night out of the way, but when the main camping area was full they let everyone overspill so we were up til 4:30 listening to drum and bass. Not best pleased. There was no kids play area either, so after 2 hours sleep and blistering heat ton the sunday we had a look round the show and shine (which was awesome but to tired and hot to appreciate it) and then went home with an earful. They shouldn't advertise it to be family friendly when it clearly isn't, and there was no security to sort out the knob heads who didn't get the no music after midnight policy. I'm now sat at work, shattered, sunburnt and with peed off missus who won't be coming any shows in the future!!!

Enjoyed the drag racing on sat though but i just wasn't lucky enough to get paired up to anything "normal", and the show wasn't laid out very well, things here, things there.

I was pissed off with 12.5@112......for me the launch area wasn't properly prepped!

Great day though and Stave Jr finally managed to break into the 10.s with his manual Porsche 997 Turbo with a 10.81@133.

Some of the show and shine cars were mentally clean and some great mods out there at the moment.

The new venue could have done with being tarmacced, but other than that and a bright red tomato head I can't complain.
