I've been running a pipercross panel filter for Around 6k and have checked it over today and there seems to be a lot of dust and dirt made it through to the maf meter, am I better just replacing it with a new genuine paper filter which I have lying in my garage or do the pipercross filters really offer much of a performance gain to a remapped tdi? Thanks

I'm running a Pipercross, had it out last week to check and clean, its doing a fine job, top of airbox and maf are spotless. Clean out your filter then when fitting make sure it fits secure?

As above.

What's the best method of cleaning the pipercross panel filter? Do any of you use the oil after, I've been told it can cause the maf meter to fail if used :(

Give it a bash and hoover it. Don't use oil it, don't think it is required.

Pipercross filters for VAG models are supposed to be run dry, if you oil it you risk killing the MAF.
Clean as scarr89 said, but you can wash it make sure its facing up so you're washing dirt out of filter not further into it, dry off with kitchen roll etc then leave to air dry pref overnight airing cupboard is ideal
