Title: Starting problem 1996 Golf GTI 16v
Post by: FunkySasquatch on 29 November 2012, 23:36
Hello,

For the last few months I have an intermittent fault with my 1996 Golf GTI 16v.  When I turn the key to start it fires up then immediately dies, I do this again and it dies then normally on the third or fourth time it starts up as normal and runs fine.

Any ideas on what might be causing this ?

Cheers.

Could be a faulty ignition switch,  common fault on mk3's.

Or Immo fault, mine had a fault and had the factory immo taken out/uninstalled/whatever and a cat1 alarm/immo put in (when the car was around 6 years old!)
