Title: 116k well maintained mk4--updated with pics and now i own it :-)
Post by: davemk4 on 29 November 2012, 12:42
Got a trade in through my local VW it a dark blue AUM 51 plate gti turbo. It mainly done in last 5 years a 20mile a day journey. If well serviced and body ok i take it the mileage shouldnt be a put off? Bearing in mind im modding it with the usual gear fmic turbo back induction kit. Stage 2 map etc

If its serviced with regular oil changes, timing belts changes then go for it.
1.8t's last forever if they looked after. Plenty of them on here over 150k pushing 200bhp+
Prawny has one 350bhp over 200k on clock

Perfect just what i wanted to hear. It should be at a bargain price too. Had all tyres replaced few month ago. It was owned by a vw techs wife so should i say should of been properly looked after. If all good ill have plenty left over for toys

list of what would need to be done. may sound alot but as my dad works for VW and is a mechanic it all be done at home in his garage.

dues service so
 fully synth oil
gen oil filter
gen fuel filter
gen pollen filter
water pump
cambelt
thermostat
new plugs iridium etc
front grooved disks and black diamond pads
might do rears even though they ok. (i like to start a fresh with my new cars)
broken coil spring so will buy either a JOM coilover kit or a spax shocker + lowering spring kit
got the usual breather pipe spilit.
abit of rust on tailgate handle due to usual washer leak
replace or clean TB due to error code on vag com

may seem alot but im in no rush. the car though is in very good condition. the underneath is like new. all archs are spotless.

obviously while it off road forge 007p, some form on induction kit be fitted and a 3'' turbo back and fmic be fitted. so feb time it be ready to pull out and get a stage 2 map :)

tommorow is d day for the price from head office at VW im hoping it be about £1100 or around that

error codes were

17544   p1136   035
bank 1 mixture adaptation add
system to lean

17704   p1296    035
malfunction in cooling system

Yer needs a boot lid though. The underneath is spotless.  Tempting to order loads of goodies but i must behave. Needs a major service first then toys. Tgen a good machine polish. Then to r tech for mapping. Anyone got any pictures of the airfilter kit they supply and fit? 120 fitted including dry filter and heatshield?
