Title: Decat or not?
Post by: hitman_bridger on 29 November 2012, 08:06
Is it worth me putting on my decat with standard back box?

probably not, have you got just a straight DP? get a 3" turbo back or miltek turbo back either sports or decat and non-resonated. purrs when your idling and when you mash your pedal it gives a nice clean note

It is a turbo back decat 3".  Is the standard back box 3" too?

On a standard 1.8t the downpipe and cat are restrictive. buy a 3" ebay downpipe and decat get it on and keep your cat for the MOT. This will definatley help the turbo spool better.

I think from memory the standard system is 2.25" but for a good stage 1 or 2 the engine will benefit from a 2.5" system. Making the most of a stage 2+ then youl need a 3" right back.

Hope this helps.
