Title: Oil/Engine issues

Yday i was driving my car (golf mk4 tdi) the oil pipe burst, i was a street away from my house, so i drove it near my house at about 10mph and then it cut off and wouldnt start back up again with abit of white smoking coming out engine bay.. reckon ive burnt the engine??  :undecided:

Omg, you might have seezed the engine mate? Or blown the turbo?

If i was you i would not start it. Your just gonna fook up the internals if there is no oil due to burst pipe. Replace the pipe and give it oil service should be ok. Any damage you will know about then :wink:

im not sure of exact location but he told me it was supposed to be a metal pipe, previous owner had put a rubber one on which burst, no oil in the engine caused the crankshaft to break.. so il be needing a whole new engine basically now.

caused crank shaft to break  :whistle: probably spun bearings and locked the crank due to lack of oil on the bearings it only takes a couple of seconds with no oil and its fooked best get on ebay m8

or break that golf and use the funds to put towards a 1.8t, i know you've just bought it but its gonna give a ball ache otherwise  :undecided:

I have family who have a breakers yard for audis + vw's in nottingham and have a specalist garage for VAG cars so i managed to get hold of another engine with turbo for 400 quid with only 90k on clock.. supposed to be a good engine.. now i hope this gets back up and running then im looking to flog it..ive only had the car for a week and this week has been the worst ever. :undecided:

I would get someone to check further, if it starts then it is not seized, you may have got away without causing damage.

got it opened and checked.. the crankshaft was broken, it had completly cracked.. so got hold of a new engine and turbo and hopefully back on road soon..
