Car won't pass MOT with it on. I think you can blank them and make the car think its still there.

it will pass the MOT. i have a aftermarket steering wheel and the airbag light was an advisory. but you can switch it off with vagcom.

if the airbag light is on and the airbag is still there then its an mot failure, you were luckt to get a tester who passed it.

dont just remove the bulb or bodge it with a resistor, go on vagcom and disable it, cos dont forget the passenger bag

You had your MOT before April then.

Airbag or indeed any warning relating to safety = fail.

As Houston suggested, you can disable specific air bag units via vag-com/vcds. I don't think you need a resistor if you have disabled it via vag-com/vcds because I remember fitting aftermarket seats which did not have airbags fitted and I simply disabled it via VCDS with no airbag light.

You do however get a message on the display when you first turn the key to warn you that the said airbag has been disabled.

Dodgy MOT tester.

He should have looked to see the car had been tampered with and left in an unroadworthy condition with no airbag.
