Is there any way to get rid of or turn off the auto function on the wipers as they never work properly!
At night that dont want to work until i cant see anything and then during the day they seem to want to work at over time the second one little drop of moisture hits the screen.
As does anyone else find that the climate control seems to change the power of the blowers to what it thinks you would like instead of what u have set it on (this is with the auto turned off)
Sorry a bit of a rant bad day at work!

Hey Monk, you can always switch your wipers to manual-use by adjusting the stalk
My ventilation system remembers my last setting, only if I keep this to manual. But if your select Auto, for climate control, then you have asked it to work for your set temp thus meaning it will fluctuate

well when its lightly raining i manually activate a sweep of the wipers just gets a bit annoying on longer journeys
my climate is on manual but when i choose a fan speed it automatically increases it after a minute or so with out me doing anything. i have made sure the auto light is off but it just does it by itself.
-
If you go one notch higher than the auto setting on the wipers they work like a normal set of wipers.
-
ye i know the notch higher puts it on constant its more for when it is gently raining.
Im just not a fan of all this auto wipers/lights.
-
Each to their own but I love it in both of our cars, to the point of buying a car without would be a backwards step for me.

You have to take your time to choose the interval speed to your liking....once set it works like a charm.
I only use the quick setting when it pours or I overtake a truck....

as they are rain sensing wipers they keep on adjusting their speed automatically.
I would prefer the conventional wiper settings where u just adjust the timing yourself. i just find they are terrible at night and seem to activate when its dry.

i know exactly what you mean
on intermitant/auto wipe theyre a joke
our SEAT seems to work fine so dont know why the rain sensor is so bad on my GTI :undecided:
i just leave he wipers off and push down and manually flash the wipers or if its heavy enough go 2 clicks up to normal wipers. the auto function is crap
strangely though the juddering wiper blades stopped recently, which is a bonus cos that did my nut in
as for the climate control, i just always leave mine in auto but turn the AC off and on as required.
the fan speed seems to stay pretty constant on my car, though i always have it set to 19 or 20 but i dont think it works particularly well at maintaining a temperature. if its a clod day but very sunny the cabin gets too warm for me and i end up having to turn the stat down to 17 or 18 - the idea of climate control is surely to automatically maintain a temperature?
its not just the GTI though - our altea is the same (have to turn it up or down more than you should), my cooper s had it and it was either blowing like hell or not on at all and my clio sport had it and that was the same
the golf has the best climate control of any ive had but its not perfect by any means

Ye i do the same thing with my wipers but it does get annoying after a but.
ill have auto off and AC off and put the temp at 21 in the morning and fan speed 3. 1/2 a mile down the road the car puts the fan speed to 5 and i have tp put it baq down. if i wanted 5 i would have it on five. this is something i dont understand seeing as i have auto off!
-
didnt know it did that - i always just leave mine in auto.
that sounds really weird to change even though its in manual mode.
-
I have to admit I set my climate to screen face vents and feet, fan speed 1 and a/c off 19 degrees never move it. I found the temp stays quite good. The beetle I had recently which was basic climatic was dreadful at keeping temp. The climate is great in comparison. Auto wipers can be random but sometimes they work sweet. They can be adjusted mind with vcds.
-
if its in auto doesnt the blower use all the vents? i never have any of the direction buttons pressed.
-
Why don't you just buy a Mk2

I assume you've tried adjusting the sensitivity of the auto wiper function using the little button on the stalk?

Yep adjusted the sensitivity of them and doesnt help. on a quiet road the sensor cant sense the droplets so they dont sweep the rain away but then the second a car drives by in the opposite direction they start sweeping at the fastest speed then stop again when its dark.

That's a fault - my GTI and now the R work fine, OK they're not perfect but 99% of the time they do what you expect them to. Assuming it's still under warranty take it back to dealer.
-
As previously mentioned in this thread both of my Cars are great too, must be broken.
-
ye i have to take it in to get a few things sorted out on it so will mentions it to the dealer.
I never been a fan of auto anything on a car and this is my first car that has options ticked on it might go back to basics after this! lol
