Title: Intermitent slipping clutch???
Post by: sharmalini on 27 November 2012, 09:46
I have a Golf gt tdi pd130 with a jabbersport remap. I think my clutch is slipping but it doesnt do it all the time? Is this possible? i assumed that once it starts slipping then it would slip all the time? I know its stupidly expensive to replace one of these from the quotes ive had.

Id be careful putting a VR6/G60 combo in a tdi, it will probably rattle like hell.

Id stick with an OEM dual mass and get an organic friction plate. Darkside developments are your best bet.

If you can cope with the noise then its up to you..

Equally the G60 combo WILL NOT FIT the 130 TDI  it has a 6 speed box

Unless you are going silly power then a standard clutch will be fine but equally its lifespan will depend on how the map delivers the power and your driving style

Thanks for the advice. It was mainly more to do with the fact its not all the time i tay only do it for a couple of days and then not again for a few weeks?

does it happen at certain times? for example in 2nd or 3rd when you boot it, or is it random?
if its random then it probably is the clutch thats knackered
if its at certain points then itll be because of the map and may not be worth doing until it completely goes

its mainly in the higher gears at mid revs when I drive it hard. But it will go weeks on end with no problems at all, thats the bit I cant work out.

could just be that your map has a large power spike, and that when it gets to that spike the clutch cant handle the power and slips? and it only seems intermitent cause your not hitting those revs every day?

possibly. When i say driven hard i dont mean flooring it and i can drive it the same way as when it slips and it will be fine. Guess I just need to resign myself its on the way out and start saving for the bumming i will get to replace it.

I struggle to change a wiper blade mate! One of my mates works at a parts place so i can get it at cost but a clutch and flywheel still ain't gonna be cheap.

£260 for the conversion and DO NOT buy from techniclutch on ebay unless you call them yourself and ask for the warranty certificate and company registration number
