Title: I can smell petrol in my car ... can you help??

I can smell a strong smell of petrol in my car,  what is the cause of this, how can it be fixed and how much will it cost???


so many questions i know, but thanks for the help.

where is the smell strongest?

front or back?

is the smell coming through the vents or elsewhere?

can u see any definite signs of leakage in the engine bay? or outside the car?

there is no real sign of leekage anywhere.

its quite hard to say where the smell is the stronhest, cause it comes and goes.  but if i had to say somewhere proberly the front.

any help???

What engine is it? . If it's a 2E engine check the fuel hose that runs from the fuel rail to the coldstart injector as these can leak where the they join but the fuel can evaporate before you see it . If in any doubt get it checked out asap as it would be a shame for it to go up in smoke!! :shocked:

You should check the fuel filter under the car, mine came free... split... and leaked.  Got a new one but cant remember how much it was,  GERMAN SWEDISH CARPARTS were the cheapest i found......  Does the job nicely.
