Title: Bushes question
Post by: WeekendMechanic on 26 November 2012, 15:51
I`v decided to replace all my bushes for powerflex ones for the front i`m ok but for the rear i`m dubious are the ones in the link correct?

They look nothing like the originals...

Yes they are correct, the originals looks different as they are rubber inside a pressed metal casing, these powerflex ones are all rubber with just a metal sleeve on the inside. They don't require pressing in either like original ones they are just a push in fit.

Ok, Thank you.
So I have to take the axle off to push the originals out and press the new ones in?

Ideally yes, it can be done with it on but it a bit of a nightmare and you will need a special tool. Easiest way I done it was to remove the calipers then drop the axle. I set fire to the original bushes to burn out the rubber then using a hacksaw I cut a slit in the bush casings then they just chapped out with a chisel. Then just clean up the inner surface with some sand paper, bit of grease, then powerflex bushes just slot in place.
