Title: Steering prob
Post by: Si3 on 26 November 2012, 15:03
Now managed to get my 16v running right  I have got another problem .

For a about a week when the car is on full lock I get a squeaking noise through the car, a bit like a fan belt. Today when I have been turning moderate to hard right I get a grabbing sensation if I go above 10mph in the corner. Only happens when I turn right not left.

Would this be a belt on power steering pump issue?

Yep belt slipping! Easy to tighten. On standard hight car just remove splitter on driver side, lay on your belly and you'll see the pump and how to tighten it

Don't over tighten it!!! I did this and left it for too long and now a bearing in the pump is squeaking, sounds awful!!! New pump for me then.....
