I'm sure this must have been dealt with before but...... I'm new! Every time I turn off the car I get the same message "Check deadlocks! Check manual!"
The Stealer tells me there is nothing wrong and this message will come up forever more. So my question is, is this true? I find it hard to believe that it can't be cleared.
-
Happens with VW cars. Have it on both our GTi and Scirocco. Can't seem to turn it off with VAGCOM either. Quite a few seem to have tried in the past.
-
Thanks for that Joe6 looks like I better get used to it :undecided:
-
Afraid so...
-
Seats do this too and my mate reckons his dealer said that we need to worry when it doesn't say say it as it means some ECU issues. I wasn't sure about this so checked with a guy who has a BTCC FR at work he confirmed it but couldn't tell me why?
-
I have a Leon and a Golf and neither display this message
-
Every post 2011 VW I have been in has displayed this. There was a spec change for the MY12, so it's probably part of that.
-
I get this same message on my GTi yet didn't get it on my MK6 GT...
Weird

March '10 Golf and June '11 Leon....explains it, ta

When does this message come up?
I'm sure I don't get the message in my GTI.
EDIT: Must be the age on the car
-
My old Golf 59 didn't display it but the new Audi does, "Safelock on. See owners manual" or words to that effect every time I switch it off.
-
You'll find you really don't notice it after a while. You get message whenever you switch ignition off. Apparently one press of car key button deadlocks the car but two presses locks it without deadlocking it. The safe lock feature deactivates the door opening levers if vehicle is locked, thus making it harder to break into - according to manual.
-
+1, dont notice it anymore. The owners manual does contain a lot of useful stuff if you can be bothered to get it out.
-
Mine only comes up when i leave the DSG lever in anything else than Park?

I get the same message come up and it's really nothing to worry about, I did the same(went back to the dealers that is and asked the same question) a few days after first having the car, I've got used to it now...

You're right, I'm sure I'll get accustomed to it, it's just a touch annoying. Just like when you have the fuel consumption up on the computer you get your speed in kph. It really doesn't matter but it just rubs me up the wrong way!

You can change that in Vag.com

This is true, a number of us have changed it with the help on a VCDS cable(vag-com) you can change it to have a big digital display displaying speed in mph and temp....have a look in the Maintance section for pics of it done...

I'll take a look. But the question still has to be why VW don't just put it right in the first place? But then I suppose there would be nothing for us to do!

Because you don't have kph markings on the speedo dial anymore and it is a requirement in case you are driving over seas. I prefer the digital kph rather than having two sets of numbers on the dial like we used to in the old days. I know some people have changed theirs to mph, but why do you need two mph readouts?

You don't. I only done mine to get rid of the KMH on every screen and instead have the temp on every screen
