Title: What's caused this and likely repair cost

I noticed a noise coming from my car and upon looking found this had happened:

Is it safe to drive? and what's the likely cost to repair, to be honest I'm not even sure what's happened or caused this?

What will need replacing?

It's the same on the other side (both rear)

Post by: Nino on 23 November 2012, 12:05: Yep thats your rear bump stops, for OEM VW replacements it costs £37.17 @ TPS I just got two new ones as Im fitting my coilovers today personally, I would replace them but thats just me, DONT buy the cheap ebay ones if you do it.
