Title: Possible Head Gasket????
Post by: Xtrhardcore on 22 November 2012, 13:47
Need some advice guys, really weird!

Went to start my car this morning and its making a really horrible whining noise, on idle and gets louder when i rev it. Lacking power too. BUT

water on the dipstick, small amount of moyo on the filler cap, expansion tank water has now risen from under MAX to about 1 and 1/2 inches above max and bubbles when you rev it.

Does not overheat!

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Could be a possible head gasket failure,  it wont always overheat straight away. Obviously oil and water are mixing from your symptons. I would be getting it pressure tested and checked over asap.

I wouldn't be driving it anywhere either, if it is the gasket and it gets worse it can drag water through your cat and fcuk that up as well.

Anywhere can do it. I wouldn't take it to VW. Go to a local place with real mechanical engineers, not 'technicians' trained only to do one thing.
