Why am I coming out to my car to find the effin windows open?
-
Is it possible you leant on the unluck button on your remote?

No, that would do all the windows. It's happened once before to all windows, but when I go inside, I put the key away.
-
failing window motors? :undecided:
-
All of them open??
Th infamous MK4 security issue :undecided: :lipsrsealed:
-
"lock car with fob,
insert key into drivers door,
twist to unlock and hold until windows are down,
release and then twist again for unlock for 10secs,
release,
twist to lock and hold until windows are in closed position,
release,
twist again to lock and wait for lights to flash."
resets the alarm apparantly, it seems to have helped with my cars alarm if it is this :undecided:
but please get confirmation from someone else on here, i was told this by my mechanic friend at VW

I'll give that a go. Reading what you replied with reminded me, that my indicators only flash on unlock, not on lock, so something's wrong with a module somewhere - could be linked.
-
mine was sorted out when i did this then but havent had the windows issue yet
-
i'm same as you ant, mine doesn't flash when it locks but does on unlock .I know mine is the pass side module as the interior light and puddle light do not come on when you open the door ,but works fine on drivers side .My alarm still works as my kids found out when i locked them in it and it went off (hid behind the wall) haha

What problem did you have?
-
the lights didnt flash when i locked the car, so took to my mates at VW and ran a cheeky diagnositics when he was on lunch, found a few engine splutter codes and old codes that the previous money wrenching garage i took it to on my first service did not remove, funnily enough after removing these codes all my interior lights started working properly and both puddle lights worked, he then reset the alarm with the above process and hey presto its worked...has had its odd moment when i have had to reset it but it all works and also that annoying passenger side module that cause the lock to pop open when using the convienience controls has stopped happening for the last month as well
-
Just tried it, not a sausage from the indicators.
-
and all your doors are fully closed etc? i noticed mine wouldnt flash even if the windows were a little open :undecided:
-
Yea, all closed and everything.
Just to be sure, where's the bonnet switch? I looked, couldn't see one. It's not in the mechanism is it like the how doors are done?
-
its normaly a handle operated cable for bonnet, i think you may have to take all the doors off and either re-solder your modules or replace them as it sounds like theres a loose/broke connection somewhere :undecided: and you've checked for codes?

I wondered though if there were a switch to sense if the bonnet were left open.
As for the left hand door, it's a faulty micro switch, usually is, there's rarely anything to solder.
I replaced the right hand switch and sorted that one out. The door switches wear as they're plastic and they operate from a metal cam in the door mechanism.
-
i only know of the boot sensor :undecided: it could be a case of opening up your doors then unless theres a bright spark out there who knows something we dont. i would personally take the doors apart, check everything and disconnect and then reconnect the battery, atleast you know you've done all the basics and reset everything

Yes there is a bonet sensor dunno where thou but I have been leavin my bonet open and it doesn't beep when lock is pressed
