I haven't had my GTTDI long; and its had modifications; however I don't have the foggiest to what turbo's fitted; all I know is that its hybrid, also if anything else has been changed, im just looking for someone to come have a good little look under the bonnet and figure things out for me :)
Thanks people :)

If it is a hybird you won't be able to tell just by having a look under the bonnet. Put a pic up of your engine bay so we can have a look. Got the 130/150? How much power you running? FMIC/SMIC? EGR delete? Custom IC pipe work?
Get a pic up!

Heres a couple of pictures, its the GTTDI anni so the 150; and the last re-map in June (I brought her about a month ago) shows max 220bhp and 360lbft so it must of had a few things done to achieve that surely? also don't have the foggiest to what the silver ball like object is!!

Very nice. Also...Very jealous! How much did that puppy set you back if you don't mind me asking :lipsrsealed:
There you have the EGR delete with the Allard hard IC piping. Already got a FMIC being a 150 which is more than enough. Having ~220 you will have the 17/49 hybrid turbo. A garret 150 turbo but with a different cold side, inducer, wheel I believe. Bet that is fun to drive!
The silver ball thing is your vacuum reservoir which looks like it has had heat shield put round it to protect it from the metal IC piping...Nothing to worry about.
I doubt much else has been changed, possibly the pancake pipe and the lower IC pipe work. A good map and the 17/49 hybrid will ~220.

:D, she cost me just under 4k she had 121 on the clock when I brought it, and came with enough paper work to hand in as a portfolio haha!!
she looks like this

ah so thats very good news! yeah in the paper work it mentions garret but not what model, then later hybrid randomly appears so yeah haha!, oh yeah stupidly fun! took on a r32 the other day... it was his bad day!!.
so its normal?
also there is a couple things which you may be able to help me with?
when driving it the "fun way" with the ESP on the light can come on an a huge loss in power is noticed; this is undone by turning the engine of and restarting in which its fine?
the other is when powering through the gears around 2500-2800RPM the engine feels like its struggling by a slight wobble like sound and vibrations in the car however after passing 2800 RPM its absolutely fine? any idea??
I was thinking air intake may need a K&N or a Pipercross to give it more flow?
Thanks :D

Jesus...Under 4k for an anni! Good deal I say...Unless :lipsrsealed:
When was its last cam belt change? Clutch seem strong? Any noticeable knocking/clanging coming from the gear box?
ESP light will come on because you are wheel spinning I think :undecided:
Hmmm, you have to turn the engine off and on again as you have hit 'limp mode', a default setting which reverts the car back to normal 'safe' parameters and limits so it can, for example, be driven to a garage. This is not good. Most likely you are over boosting, which is pretty bad for the turbo! Will lead to premature failure. I'd get it logged on vagcom to see what your actuator is up to, it may need adjusting.
Get a pipercross panel filter if you haven't already got one, don't go K&N.
The wobble like sound and vibrations could be lag and your car 'catching up' while having to deal with the torque, then it will be fine, vibrations through the car will probably be through the dog bone mount.

Ive been told, it's had a solid flywheel conversation in June, and the cam belt il hunt for in the docs when I get home later, an no knocks or anything xD, ah again will check that ASAP! Pipercross it will be! An ah so just power through it? :F
-
Solid flywheel conversion...That will be the vibration for sure. Unless it is the super gucci silent SMF conversion then you will notice it. The DMF has springs in it to take up the vibrations that you are probably feeling! Not to worry...That flywheel will never fail, just your clutch, so go on easy on that unless it is a decent uprated one as 360lb is quite a lot of torque!
I'd get your boost issue sorted ASAP mate.
-
just looked through the paperwork I've got... Cambelt, tensioner, and waterpump changed 15000 miles ago! :) and with the solid flywheel conversion, it had a new clutch kit too!; where would I be able to take her for the boost issue :/ or would a vw specialist be okay? and how much am i looking at? £? ££? £££? or :O ££££? thanks!
-
What sort of boost issue are you experiencing? VW will charge an arm and a leg and may not even touch it because of mods. Best place would be a tuner...Don't know of any in norwich...GOOGLE
-
well you mentioned logging it on VAGcom, where can I do this? or a newbie question... how do I do this? and you said you think overboosting could be the problem causing me to go into limp mode with traction control on?
thanks :)

Oh yea, now I remember  see if there is anyone on here local who can do it, there is a list in the vagcom section
Failing that I'd find a reputable tuner near you to sort it. If you cannot perhaps book it in at Rtech for some diagnostic, they are top notch and will probably get more from your turbo if they do there own custom map on it.
