Title: engine degreasing
Post by: aidan2112 on 19 November 2012, 11:34
Any tips on what to use? Has anyone used traffic film remover for this?

I would suggest using some heavy brush-on degreaser from the local auto spares shop. Brushing it on will aggravate the crap on the engine and it will end up much cleaner than when using spray on stuff.

I used "Car Plan Engine Degreaser" spay in an orange can. Sprayed on, brushed with old toothrbush, wiped off, worked pretty well.
Leaves a slight residue behind though, but well stops it from corroding.

Gunk.
Works a treat. Brush it in, hose it off.

Gunk brush on for big sections, and a spray can of the citrus foaming cleaner sold in Halfords for harder to reach places
