Nice. Interesting image too.
I've made it onto Explore 3 times, but only found out when someone's commented and even then they were dropped from Explore by the end of the day.
You can check if you've made explore by using this tool here (it only looks at past days, not today): http://bighugelabs.com/scout.php (http://bighugelabs.com/scout.php)
It will also tell you the ranking of your photo out of the 500.
It's also interesting to see what other photos made it onto explore on the same day: eg: Explore 17th Nov (http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/2012/11/17/)
I have ambitions for photos to make it onto explore, but the script/robot behind explore is a fickle thing and you never know what will make it and what won't.

Yea the algorithm is a mystery!
That is the tool I used, and I only found out when someone commented!
Shouldn't they e-mail you or something?
-
I have never made it.
I am not surprised.
Nice picture.

I'm surprised by this, I would not say this is my best picture!

Loving this pic. You've captured the atmosphere seriously well.
Explore is a weird one, I've been in 3 times but all absolutely ages ago.
The odd thing is that the same shot featured twice (the second time with just a slight edit) but with about a year inbetween.

I wish I could find some way of figuring it out!
I read somewhere that it is about interest without sharing, so more views and favs without tagging and adding to groups?

Yeah something like that.
This site gives a reasonable explanation: Explore - What Is It? (http://www.steves-digicams.com/knowledge-center/how-tos/online-sharing-social-networking/flickr-explore-what-is-it.html)

Cheers, I give that a read through.
