Hi all. My mate had a silver golf 2001 GTI TURBO 162,000 miles no service history, was remaped, 007p, Ko3s, decat with a custom exhaust, lowering springs and 18 inch alloys. it was involved in an motorbike accident damaging the right rear quarter and tailgate. he put the car up for sale on ebay 3 weeks ago as spares or repair with 1 months tax and 1 months MOT and sold it for 620. its now on pistonheads by the new owner for sale at 1,695 claiming hes had the car a year spent loads on it and lying about the modifications,Rtech 220bhp stage 2 map ko3s miltek exhaust, decat, screamer pipe, coilovers, full service history cambelt change in september with invoice, 11 months MOT and only 79,000 miles!!!   162,000 miles to 79,000 miles in 3 weeks! PLEASE AVOID THIS CAR!!! The guy is a rip off con.

a link might help
-
Alot of dodgy characters about, best avoided.
Try and get a name and post it here, or a link would also be beneficial to anyone who might be looking.
-
could always try reporting him for clocking the car.
-
Can it not be reported to PH to get the add removed?
-
my mate is fumming about it hes going to report it to piston heads and trading standards tomorrow. heres the link http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/golf-gti-mk3-mk4/vw-golf-mk4-1-8turbo-x-reg-2001-bargain-1695/913810

Surely if you check the mot history online that would prove the mileage discrepancy?
People like this should be fined as you spend your hard earned money on what you think is genuine and true and find later on down the line some pr1ck did this just to take more money off you.
-
I'm going to email the seller to see what he has to say lol
Just sent him a txt asking did he do the repair or a local body shop to the rear 1/4.
-
tbh if anyone uses 'neva' in an advert ide never buy anything off them.
I know i havent got the best spelling but atleast i know how to use capital letters and full stops instead of just constantly SHOUTING.
-
just checked piston heads and the adverts been taken down with a fraud warning :lipsrsealed:
Nice one!
-
From experience if it sounds too good to be true it normally is. A stage 2 car with low mileage for £1700 or whatever it was screams alarm bells to me.
Im glad pistonheads got onto it so quickly.

To be fair, even a man with a white stick can tell the difference between a car thats done 80k and one that's done over double that.
-
Whats the name of the buyers ebay account?
-
Good stuff but its sad to think someone will be stun with this!
-
Good result with getting the ad removed :afro:
-
Name and shame

i dissagree i work at vw and we get alot of fleet cars and i bet if i took a well looked after mk6 golf with 150k on the clock and wound it down to 40k you wouldnt be able to tell.
we do all those mobility cars too which litterally have 4k on them after 3 years and they look in worst shape than a average company car. they are covered in dents, clutches juddering and smell of smoke and pi#s

Ignoring the extremely obvious hyperbole.
No matter how well looked after (reasonable maintinence for a normal everyday road car) it is, you get wear and tear signs, that only get worse with age/milage. Just some level of dilligence and cross referencing when buying a car will show up the majority of abused/clocked motors.

My Passat has over 170'000 on and is far better all round than many with half the mileage, even the seats and steering wheel don't show the mileage!
Most Passats on ebay etc show much lower miles but the large majority looked more aged/miled!
