im building a 4ltr powerd tvr powerd golf mk1 using all running gear off 1998 tvr chimera
-
nothing new there. was done a couple of years ago. good luck!
-
do you no wear you saw it
-
In the Golf magazine, can't remember what issue.
-
can you tell me if they widend it
-
Yep i think so.

The car in question was a MK2 golf and was built using a 5 litre engine out of a TVR Griffith 500, complete with cosworth T5 gearbox.
In the article in "The GOLF" magazine dated April 2002 the builder of said car, andy leech used a Cerbera chassis and fitted a GOLF shell over it which had the centre tunnel cut away.
So its more of a TVR chassis with a golf body on it and this was made by an ex employee of TVR.
Some stats.
BHP 320 bhp
TORQUE 300 lbs/ft
top speed 149mph
And my particular favourite is the 0-60mph time of 3.09 seconds.
So I take it your a bit handy with the spanners?

So it's not been done before then fella ;)
Good luck to ya! Keep us updated. If you need any other help this is the place 4 an answer ;) :)

Take photo's, lots of them.
I'm looking for ideas for this Mk1 I recently acquired. I wasn't planning on keeping it 1600cc. ;D

I think it sounds a bit pie in the sky to me. but good luck and have fun.

Did anyone ever see the picture of the Porsche 928GTS in a MK1's clothing??? Was a beast...
Good luck GolfTVR...

I stumbled across some pictures of it and a brief history with pics by googling on "campaign "as I recall. Some German nutter cut the car in half and widened it to take the running gear. I think it cost him a few DM to do the conversion though. Call me old fashioned but if you want a porsche buy a porsche. Why spend all that cash producing a crappily engineered version of the original? Pure is best I reckon.

see who had the last laugh?
