Title: Mk 2 GTi electric window switches
Post by: MrWolf on 16 November 2012, 19:43
I just got a switch replaced for one of the electric windows on my 1992 GTi (front windows only are electrically operated), and both switches now light up even when the side/headlights aren't on. Is this normal? It's one of those things I never noticed or thought about before, and now it seems odd. I just can't remember what the switches did up until 2 days ago when I took the car in!

(It was replaced because it was starting to get temperamental about putting the window down.)

Hi mate, iv just replaced one of mine this week and sounds like we've had the same problem. I thought it was just sticking so took door card off fiddled about for a bit used wd40 , nothing. Then tried with other switch fine, but getting back to your question they do light up all the time just the new ones are very bright because I now need to get the other one as the old one is dull

Yeah - can confirm that they are illuminated constantly.

Thanks, guys. Maybe they were always lit up, and when I took it in this time, the engineer cleaned the switches!

Thanks for moving this to the Mk 2 forum.
