I looked over the candidates and it failed to give me any call for concern, or much information about any of them.
Did you vote?

No point voting on anything thats riddled with corruption. Thats my viewpoint anyway.

Utterly pointless introduction by the Tories in my opinion.
There's next to no policing in South Devon as it is and the candidates in my area were in engaging in constant squabbling (pre-election) and now it seems they've converged to squabble about something else, but this time it's about us (the public) and our lack of desire shown over this election.

bit of a fail in terms of turnout, but surely having the power to elect someone who controls the police is a good thing?

had to drop my bike off to the shop which was next to the polling station,so nipped in and voted cos i was there.wouldnt of bothered otherwise,ive had no election material through the door,didnt even know who was standing ffs! voted for the independant who's had to front the £'s with no support unlike the 3 'main' partys (will never vote lin/lab/con anyway)

I voted although i was only aware of what was going on cos my wife was a nominated polling clerk, if that hadn't been the case i wouldn't of had a clue which is disgusting! :angry:

If you didn't vote you cant complain about anything your local commissioner does/doesn't do. Bit pathetic in this day and age that everyone wants to be spoon fed everything, if you wanted to know about it there was loads of info on the net.

actually you will find that you can complain... like it matters what the police commissioner tells you. its the same old crap. if someone wants my vote then they have to earn it.

Nope, but I've recently found out I work with the chap that got elected in my region.
Interesting conversation with him to be had on Tuesday methinks.

they will not earn my vote by sitting on their well paid a$$ hoping I will take time out of my day to go and vote so they can be paid more to do f'all.
how about providing some material which shows me what they offer?
how about past examples of what they have actually done??
a copy of their cv perhaps?
or is it too much to ask they are interviewed for a job like normal people??

Saw a banner on showed on TV, and it really rang true imo. "Don't Politicise the Police". All it would be is a load of over paid know it all's, spouting crap that they think the public want to hear, and never actually following through with any of it. Although some of the simple things they may try to implement, before saying its not cost affective so scrapping it anyway. These people should be voted through by the people that actually know what they are talking about, ie; the Police Force. That way, they are promoted through merit, rather than just manipulating the general public by spouting false claims and propaganda!

Nope, not enough info about the candidates and since when is being in charge of the pohleece a popularity contest? (Read as bolitics). Surely the person most qualified should get the job?

i voted, dont know who for, asked my mum who shes voting for and said ide do the same, but then forgot the second choice so just ticked the one with a cool name :rolleyes:

pretty sure more people voted in this thread on this forum, than in my local area.
i saw the booth being delieverd on the night and a porta-a-loo around 7pm and as i drove past with my mate i said
"what they doing now, probably digging up the fooking road or some sh!t" he agreed and we continued, i now realise it was a voting station :laugh:

14.6% turn out according to this poll, which fairly accurately reflects the national turn out.
We are a statstically representative body of people. Nice.

My gf ran one of the counts in Gloucester, she said that at least a third of the papers she had were spoiled or had a huge essay on them detailing people's opinions on the vote taking place.
Pointless as no-one reads them.
