You know the stuff that you see in Halfords for about £20 that you put into a full tank of petrol and it claims to detox/clean your engine etc.
I've got a long journey today and think it might be a good idea if it actually works.
-
they do work.. but i prefer to just use optimax petrol instead, cleans the engine and a higher octane all in one
-
* thought this thread was about 'gunk' *
i've stopped using optimax.. to f*ckin pricey now..
-
chuck about 2 quids worth of diesel into your tank. my dad filled mine up with diesel by accident as hes used to vans.
looked very clean
-
I stopped using optimax but 91 ron made the car even slower and moody and dropped me to 29 mpg instead of 41 with the optimax on a good run as for engine cleaners i stick a bottle of slick 50 in the car before the mot as it kills the emmissions for the test but its worth running a bottle through every 3000 miles or so..
-
i use redex...but not sure if it works or not tbh... :undecided:
Dinx
-
i think redex does work.. but not on newer cars as ive heard worrying stories of it knackering cat's?? dunno though... the best one ive used is forte's treatment cost about 10quid but it worked wonders on the fuel system and i only put it in with minimal fuel for max effect
-
min fuel? but most require max tank? :undecided:
wot does fortes claim to do?
Dinx

tbh with a full tank its going to be diluted and maybe not as affective.. yes i realize it needs a certain amount but id use less rather than more..
i also try and use a carb cleaner take of all the inlet hose for the throttle body and give it a major spray with the butterflys open and closed.. this moves all the sh!t and if done regulary it really does make a diference.. if u cant see all the metal and its tarnished and black do it again!

i do mine quite often. amazing how dirty it can get. Engine does run smoother and quieter too

The thought of a 'MOODY CAR'   ( Know what you mean )  Does anyone else's car suffer with 'OFF- DAYS', some times for no apparent reason ? ,I know mine does
-
mine did until i fixed all the vacuum leaks it had... 5 in total.. took about 8 months to find all of them!
it would be wheezy in hot weather.. best in the cold.. etc etc..
now its the same no matter what
-
my car is very moody atm.... lookin like a sack of cack too... :undecided: soon she'll be sorted!
-
Mine had "off days" wen she was idlin too high...half expected her to be abit of a tw@t after being off the rd so long...but shes
