Came across this ad on eBay, eBay item number: 110974713329.

Basically in the ad, the seller states that mk1 golfs were made in south Africa up until a couple of years ago? :undecided:

is it true?

they are similar to Mk1s - but they arent a true Mk1.

and yes, this version has been made in south africa until recently the original mk1 was or course made in Germany  :smiley:

I've never seen a Mk1 Golf in South Africa with that bodykit, it must be a "special" kit for the UK...  :undecided:

This can't be a GTI as it's a 1.6 right?
  original gti's were 1.6, i guess they copied it completely!

They do exist cus 2 years ago me and the mrs and 2 other couples hired 3 citigolfs from AVIS and drove from cape town to port alfred in them, like the italian job but in golfs! Absolutely mint!!!
