Title: Whistling from engine bay ???

I got a whistling noise coming from my engine. it gets a bit louder when i accelerate put nothing major. this started to happen when i change my power steering belt. Personally I think its the alternator but I will like some advice from other MK3 users  :smiley:

Over-tensioned belt or worn pulleys.

Vacuum hose leak
Water pump bearing
Power steering pump
Alternator
Air-Con compressor

Any of these could could a whistling noise with excessive wear.

Check that first as they shouldnt be really tight! You should still be able to move the belt 5mm at least with your finger.

Thanx guys will have a look at all that when i do my gearbox. Will keep you up to date :wink:
