Title: gearbox help
Post by: hobbiniho on 11 November 2012, 14:04
right my friend has a mk3 gti with a 20v turbo fitted and his gearbox has decided to spit out the diff rivets resulting in a nice big hole ad it pissing all the oil out.
the box is an o2j with the code ewp and it has 108mm drive flanges now from what i have managed to find out not all o2j's have the 108mm drive flanges but i was wondering if they are a straight swap for the 100mm ones?
am i right in thinking that any o2j will bolt in?? i will just be the ratios inside that will be different??

cheers michael

Re-furbished, or uprated?
Surely there is a lesson to be learned here, regarding the standard diff rivets?

As Glen said get the rivets replaced with bolts, much stronger.
