Title: genuine or patent wing?

mk5 golf need a drivers wing, does anyone know where i can get a genuine wing and how much? or are patent parts pretty much the same?

Pattern wings are not worth it unless, the car is an absolute dog, and you couldn't car less
The genuine article, will have exactly the same characteristics as the one on the car, ie it fits, and will stay rust free for many years...
Genuine wings are available from any VW dealership, Im guessing at around the £140 mark, or try looking on ebay, but make sure it has a genuine VW parts decal attached,
You may even be lucky, and find a OE wing in the correct colour
