Post by: Kiz on 11 November 2012, 07:40
Hi Guys. ever since i brought my mk 11 gti my fuel pump runs constantly, is this right or should it cut out after a few seconds, it says in the Haynes manual it should cut out, any suggestions would be appreciated, I've tried a new fuel pump relay.

When you say stays on do you mean you can hear it whine ? As mine started whineing when low on fuel then it started all the time and started stuttering at top end so fitted a new inner fuel tank pump and its sorted now

Should prime on ignition.
-check if the relay has not been bypassed with a jumper wire in the fuse box.

-Replace the fuel pump relay (bottom right relay) and see it that works.
