dose anyone know it the shock's from a 1988 golf will fit a 1990 golf as i know there are some bits will not fit

good question! they should do, id lay the parts out side by side to double check though...

i havnt noticed any change in the suspension setup on early or late mk2's. i think the spring / shock ratings are diffrent from 8 to 16v's and thats about it :rolleyes:

1990+ gti's the front shock is the strut. I thought it wasn't b4 1990, but never worked on a pre 90 so can't verify this.  Think rear shox are the same tho..

its a straight swap

90 spec cars used fully enclosed front shocks while pre 90's had shock inserts. both use the same fitment though!
