Title: THINGS TO LOOK FOR!

Hey
Im going to potentially buy a mk2 golf gti cabrio 2morow. does anyone have any ideas on things you should look out for on this particular car and in general. ie; engine things, body, interior. your help will be greatly appreciated.

Firstly i would look out for the fact that vw never made a mk2 cabby :wink: they used the original mk1 design for the ragtops right up until the mk3, seems to be a trend they follow because the mk4 cabrio is just a mk3 with a facelift.

A mate of mine is about to purchase one soon also.  apparently he has been told to look under the rear seats as this is a major rust problem on these shells.  can't help you with anything else sorry.

The MK1 forum has a checklist for buying a Mk1 cabriolet but most of the stuff written is good advice for any car that you are buying. Make sure you take your time and don't fall a piece of rubbish that is going to cost you a fortune to fix... like me  :sad:
