Title: Anything to look out for an '08 MK5 1.6 FSI
Post by: Ben Lessani on 07 November 2012, 16:57
Hi Guys,

My mum went ahead and bought a new car on a whim from Carcraft without getting me involved, so I didn't get a chance to look over the car; research reliability, history etc. Now, the car is hers and there's no going back :(

So, I want to make sure its had all the servicing it needs to date and if it hasn't get it done.

Its a 2008 1.6 FSI with 73k miles on the clock (I know, its twice what it should be).

Is there anything in particular that I should look out for?
Is there any major service part changes that should have been completed (eg. timing belt etc.)?
Has there been any recalls that need to have been done?

Thanks troops. I'm clueless with MK5s as a MK2 owner!

im not aware of any recalls on them but the inlet tract likes to get coked up pretty bad. that can lead to the link rod between the vacuum actuator and inlet flap mech snapping if the flaps get stuck.. i've seen them glued but it only happens again, new inlet manifold is the only solution approx £400
