Title: fuel pipe replacement.

my mate broke off the clip on hose number 1, on the filter side.

if i order this part, is it as simple as pulling it out and feeding it through again?

Never replaced one but shouldn't be too bad a job

I did this a few months ago, those clips are a pain! you have to undo the tank straps and drop the fuel tank an inch or the clips on the hose won't fit through the gap.... not too bad though if you have a jack and some axle stands  :smiley:

Also to make it easier, tie some string to the the old pipe where it clips onto the fuel pump sender and pull the pipe out from under the car (the fuel filter side). Then you can tie the new pipe to the string and pull it back up from inside the car, saves you fiddling about guiding it between the tank and chassis  :smiley:

thanks for the info, how do the tank straps undo? don't really fancy having a look until i've got the replacement pipe.

Pipe was about £17 inc VAT from VW and the straps just have an 10mm nut either end iirc. just make sure the tank is supported when you undo the straps (maybe with a plank of wood on a jack) and don't break the straps. Then lower the tank about an inch and should be alright.

Remember that the weight of the tank may shift depending on how much fuel is in it so just take your time and make sure everythings secure and level when undoing the tank straps
