Lots of rumours on the tinterweb, anyone know what the crack is? Or do you know anyone that works there? Need loads of techie stuff so hoping there’s a half decent sale….
“Fire sale” gives the impression that its guna be cheap as fook! Doubt it, as it’s so close to crimbo, people will be happy as long as it’s just cheaper. However I’m tight and want a bargain so if you know anything… please share

Yep. You'll see was £1000 now £600 and you think wow what a bargain, but pre administration is was actually £400.
Example, screwfix do a 120w worklight for (I'll round the figures up as can't remember the pennies) £10, saying it was £13. Well actually I bought the same light from the same place for £5 several months ago.

Yea, all they need is to be able to say is that in one store for a period of,I think the law says 28 days, it was advertised at £**** (some inflated price) - then they can say its now half price or whatever.
-
Oh and if you are looking to buy something big (I'm after a new upright freezer) you can forget free delivery and take the old one away services!
-
Yeah its not like they can't shift the goods at cost price somewhere else right

just happened to be passing my local shop today, lots of spaces on the shelves were empty so obviously not been getting eny stock in for a while. they did however have what i was after (an SLR Camera) it was still £50 more than amazon, so i've took the amazon route, however will keep and eye on comet.... just incase!

Ey mate long time no see, only just realised it were your thread I were replying to!
I think suppliers have been taking stock back.
-
hiya ant, yeah think your right, some of the stock wasnt paid for (by comet) so think the suppliers have taken it back.
Either way, they're fuc*d, just about leaves currys/pcworld or online, could even give the smaller retailers a chance to grow!? especially with crimbo round the corner.
have to do a pint sometime over the next month or so, if your around??

They have been on a pro-forma basis for months... (Pay up front... Basis)
As for buying from Amazon a company that pays no Tax in this country & never has..
I won't buy on principle same as Apple - even though I want a new Ipod & Ipad mini ... just won't pay them the money to run off to Ireland and pay no tax in the UK....
Tossers...
-
On the Comet front, it looks like a firesale will go ahead apparently starting to ramp up tomorrow!!!

I don't see the problem with company's not legally paying tax. It's fully legal. if I was Jimmy Carr, i'd of said "yea and what, I'll stop doing it when it becomes illegal"
The firesale is laughable!
If I were Jimmy Car, I'd say 'In percentage I'm paying less than you, but don't take the moral high ground when in actual money value I'm paying more than you and not getting any better value for my money'.

The comet liquidation sale was a joke. Only had %10 off TVs and washing machine basically. Everything else RRP. Bullsh!t.
