Title: Cruise Control, Mk6 GTI
Post by: orcades on 05 November 2012, 12:38
Hello All,

I've searched through the forum, and there's a good few threads about cruise control, however nothing really answers my query.

I've a Sept 2009 Mk6 GTI, and I'd like to fit Cruise Control, the following link seems to be the correct part (1K0054690B)

http://vag-shop.co.uk/store/cruise-control-kit-vw-golf-mk6/prod_13.html

I do have VCDS (Vag-Com), however I just wondered if it's much hassle to fit the Cruise Control stalk? If there's a guide somewhere - could somebody point me in the right direction, please.

Regards,

That one says its for a MK4, doesn't it?

Your dealer shud do it for about £188 fit? Last time I checked they did any how...

Hello Mr GTD,

The link says,

Part Number 1K0054690B. Application VW Golf MK6 2009-22/2009, and price £66.

The reason I'm planning on fitting it myself is because the nearest proper VW dealer is a long way away from me.

Maybe I am misunderstanding this.....
A VW dealer CAN (?) retrofit cruise control for approx £ 188 or so ?

Yes they can, had it fitted to my MK5 ED30 at delivery as it was about £100 cheaper than a factory fit at the time.

Used it a lot but ultimately gave up using it in the UK as the roads were too busy as I was always having to adjust my speed to the conditions and found that using my foot was easier and gave better MPG than cruise. Only really used it when in France and on deserted motorways so was a waste of money for me.

The best use for the Cruise functionality is if you have APR software and use this as the switch to change to different maps, not sure if APR still use this though.

From what I've read so far, the gist of it is that it's a lot cheaper to fit Cruise Control to 2009/2010 Mk6 Golf's.

If a good dealer was closer to me I'd go for the dealer retrofit, however the nearest decent dealer to me involves a ferry and a longish drive.

I just wondered if anybody could confirm if the Cruise Control Part Number 1K0054690B is correct, and any info or tips on fitting would be appreciated.

Yours like mine will have the earlier mk5 arms. If you do a search on Google there was when I looked ages ago lots of how toos
There may even be one in the mk5 section on here. It's basically the same on the early mk6s (you don't need to fit the extra wire early mk5 s do.)

Thanks for the information Snoopy. I did come across a how-to for fitting Cruise Control to the Mk5 Golf, so I'll have a look at that again. I wasn't sure whether-or-not the Mk5 fitting instructions applied to the Mk6.

Regards.
