I had a bit of banter with knobby who reckons a single wiper conversion is 'chav'.
I totally agree. But i also mentioned that the two round headlights on a gti could also be considered a little bit 'chav'..
I'm a die hard fan of the 4 light gti look. But i'm guessing i'm in a dwindling minority, due to all the two headlight conversions i see..
So go on, place your bets..

I prefer 2 round lights. Makes the car look wider and a bit meaner. I have no issues with 4 round lights as it looks nice and retro but in my opinion square lights are a big no no!
-
You gotta have the four, then the person who's behind you're all over knows it's a GTi!

4 IMO
But they might think it's a driver (if it hasn't got the red trim) :undecided:
-
Must keep the GTI badge on too...
-
Its gotta be standard four lamp! Its how a gti should look!
I'm not a fan of the 1.3 look!

i guess my car is chav then

When I had my mk2 I modified the the outer lamps to xenon style by unscrewing the fog lamps out of broken mk4 headlamps ,cutting a hole in the back of the reflector where the bulb holder was then screwing the assembly in place after removing the old lenses and cutting new clear ones out of perspex
To get the asymmetric beam pattern I dismantled the assembly and just ground down the beam cut-off to the required angle.
Gave it a really meanacing look
The only drawbacks were that      1) The outer lamp was only for dip beam.
                          2) The lenses started to melt after a couple of months (made replacements but really needed glass ones)

I'm usually infront of them pulling away horny :D
2 lights I like.
You should have Rallye as an option too.
-
Hi guys
Well I like the jetta/rallye look on a Jetta or a Rallye but on a mk2 GTI it has to be 4 lamps and big bumpers all clear or all smoked I think the 2 lamps make ur GTI look like a driver.

2 lamps defo give the car a wider stance

What about a 4 headlamp grill with the spots removed an oil cooler behind one and a ram air intake to the other ???
-
the more lights the better i would have a set of the rally lights on the bonnet if they did not look so silly on a road car so 160/130watts headlight bulbs and 100 watts fogs is ok for me at the minute but as i do a lot of lane driving at night at a good rate of knots so i need light

i like the 4 lamps with the red surround. makes the front end look big and bulky.
-
Well i am suprised! 4 lamp and 2 lamp are neck n neck on the voting..
Jetta front end not too popular these days tho...
-
2 lamps look good but I wouldn't want to sacrifice the extra illumination of the 4..
-
Hey JTM... Watch out she dont bite.....

oh and also... My old Mk2 started off with 4 lamps which which were very dull, pretty dangerous in fact, changed for jetta front end which was better.. But the lights i have now are as good as modern day cars. Can well recommend the them (got them from Volksbits BTW)
Cheers
Knobby!

i'm a 2 light fan, got nothing against the 4 lights but i think they look wider with 2, especially when you have an eyebrow on there as well.......
-
Just switched from 4 to 2. Good thing is as long as you are carefull how you take off the 4, can always go back to a 2. Havn't made my mind up yet!
HATE Jetta front ends on a golf, sorry.
