Title: Mot failure work
Post by: Jaguar4321 on 04 November 2012, 13:49

Took the other halfs 1.8t for an mot yesterday , it failed on the following:

o/s/f top mount
Front and rear side lights
Just did the front side light bulb!!!! Bit of an extreme proccess for a bulb! (Bumper off)
Done a few searches on the top mount, looks like it can be done DIY unless I have missed anything, does anyone have any tips? What size isvthe Allen key at the top?

Top mounts are easy enough to sort, you'll need a 7mm allen key & a 21mm deep socket that the allen key will fit through.

Have a look here for more info:

If that's all that it failed on then thats good going :afro:

Bumper off for a side light bulb? Why?  Ive changed mine a fair few times without removing anything other than the cover on the rear of the light.

Because some people have bigger hands and cant get in there.

Hands must be HUGE! I was only under the impression that the battery needs removing to make access easier
if needed.

Offside is ok to do in situ, nearside is a ballache. I'd rather whip the bumper off than take the battery out tbh, I can have the bumper off and light out within 5-10mins tops.
