My mates looking for a TDI 140 BHP his Budget £7k ? Would be able to get one for that kind of money ?

It's possible to get into one for that Steve. A quick look on Auto Trader says that £7k will get one with less than 60,000 miles, but it's more than likely to be a pre-facelift model. There are later facelift models with the GTI type bumpers and 17" wheels for that price, but they have done plenty of miles.
