Hi all just a quick one,
My car feels very flat ...no power... it feels like n/a 1.8 but you can hear the turbo its very whistley....if thats spelt right lol?
Its a 1999 AGU lump with cold side dumpvalve and not mapped and no boost gauge ....I know they arnt the quickest cars but it just feels FLAT .
I know i have a leak on the de-cat downpipe joint but still it feels like theres no torque.
Any help would be great .

I would scan it to check for any faults first.

when you say dumpvalve what kind

Hi james,
I scanned it the other day on a snap-on reader for some reason i have no power going to the obd port. all that was there was temp sensor ...

swap this for a forge 007 or 008 check for boost leaks from split pipes aswell  would sort the exhaust too

As the others have said check the basics, then you need to look for split pipes with oil on ( oil indicates boost leaks! )
are you running a standard filter setup?
You need to get it properly scanned, with VAGCOM if you can and see what it throws up

Don't worry about your spelling, no one else does.
It sounds like a boost leak. Quite a common one is the diverter valve. May be worth changing that, as well as checking the hoses over.

A standard AGU is flat and feels rubbish.
Yes you may have old pipes perished but even when youv replaced the perished pipes if you have any its still going to feel rubbish and slow.
My advice is do as above buy a forge 007p, check for split pipes ( Good idea to start at air filter down to the turbo, up through the intercooler pipes and back to the inlet mani. Any splits found here will affect your cars peformance)
Also check your PCV breather system, this is all under vaccum also. So from the rocker cover youl see a 90" pipe go from there and follow it under the inlet and replace/fix any pipes or replace with catch can mod.
Then when your happy everything is in good working order either throw the little turbo away and replace with a good second hand k03s (later model turbo bolt on no mods required) then a cheeky remap will see above 200bhp and you wont be saying its flat anymore
Or keep the turbo on and youl see around 185-195bhp after a remap.
