Title: Trouble starting

Hey. some mornings after a spell sat in the garage for a few days it has trouble starting and very occasionally back fires.......fuel pump? new leads & plugs needed?  Thanks

1st check for spark, then check for fuel, it would help if you gave a bit more info as to which engine, does it crank slowly?

cheers. '89, 1.8 gti.....it sometimes does crank slow yes. Tempermental at times. could be stood for weeks and start 1st time, stood for a day and its a right chew on

cranking slowly is bad with fuel injection check your battery, get a multimeter across the terminals you should above 14v with engine running, check the conections at starter motor and xclean up all earths in engine bay, give it a good service plugs, dizzy cap rotor arm, check cold start injector is working this is essential for starting when cold
