Just bought myself a 59 plate candy white gti so as a treat and looking through this section I got myself the alloy footrest that many recommend
Question is people have mentioned sticking it on with tape but mine came with nuts and bolts so do you remove the footrest first to attach?
Cheers

Hi
You shouldn't need to remove anything to fit the footrest just some strong 3M tape then a firm press shud do the trick...well it has for me any how.
And if you got holes then its the wrong one...I think it's the MK5 that required the holes...

I just got my 35 footrest the other week from Gulfstream and stuck mines on with "No Nails" exterior double sided tape. No problem

Thanks i got it from the bay so I've sent them an email to clarify it on the listing it's says mk5 and 6
Probably send it back and get the off here

Gulfstream11(forum name) does them on here and over on the MK5 forum which is where I think he spends more time..
When I ordered mine from him he asked if I wanted the one with the holes or the one that sticks like glue(no holes)
If it was a reputable Ebayer I'm sure you won't have any probs in sending it back...

Thanks for that sure it will be fine seems a big seller called creation motorsport

I have the rest with holes and find it looks fine, would never remove it so he holes aren't ever going to be a problem

I bought some plate carriers from them a little while back from their shop in Brum, i decided i couldn't be bothered taking the original mount off the front so took them back and they were fine with it. :afro:

Mines a mk6 one from gulfstream with the bolts fitment.
If you look in the foot well its easy to see iirc its two plastic nuts to remove the oem one to fit the new plate on it. + the oem replacement is less than a fiver as I bought one just incase.

Will have a closer look tomorrow it's been peeing down all day here.

Got the hex bolts & nut version in my MK5 ED30.Dead easy to do job & i think more secure than a stuck on version.

I think i'd like to put something behind it like rubber or foam so you can't see the plastic behind so i think i'd prefer the bolt on one. i REALLY like the OSIR one but it's a bit expensive.

Managed to get the panel off drill and bolt the cover on, as said very easy to do even for a numpty like me.
Thanks for all the help
