my car is lowered on jom blueline coilovers, i fitted new top mounts all round (febi) after 3 years they are fooked. So i was thinking poly bush top mounts. After looking on net & ringing a few companies, i cant get hold of any. Who has poly bushes in their ride?
Also if you have lowered your car & had them fitted for more then 2 years & your mounts dont creak, which mounts have you fitted?
P.s roads down here are poop!!!
Let me know pleaseeeee
-
Use normal febi top mounts. I've heard many many nasty things about poly top mounts, including MOT failures.
-
i have febi on them atm, they have failed its been 6 months now & now its eating my tyre
-
Thought you said 3 years?
Anyhow, when running coilovers you're always going to go through top mounts more often. Stick to febi
-
Eating tyres probably means you havent had the alignment done on your car!
-
sorry to confuse you guys. i had them fitted for 3 years now (coilovers & all 4 top mounts)
they have been creaking for 6 months now.
after my uncle fitted the coilovers, i took the car for its alignment, it was superb but recently my passanger side tyre is being eaten away & im getting creaking from the passanger front side.
ps what about the vr6 mounts? will they be tougher or are they the same as the 8v? as i remember before people were saying to get the vr mounts
-
Just replace the top mounts with new febi ones and get alignment done
Oh and check condition of wishbone bushes, they could be causing the excessive tyre wear.
-
poly bushed the wishbones with flo-flex (same as yours) they was done under a year ago. i had a quick look at them last week and they seemed ok
il just get the febi 1's
-
Bushes will be fine then
Stick to standard rubber top mounts as I said mate, heard lots of horror stories of the poly mounts not sitting snug and needing trimming to fit properly, squeaking and even failing MOT's for whatever reason + they'll reduce the comfort in the cabin a lot.
Oh and definitely buy Febi, from tie-rod69. Don't bother with cheap mounts, I had to replace my "great value" top mounts after a few weeks.
-
I bought my top mounts from the dealer. They had lasted 15 years no problem

Car is lowered, has been for a while now and no noises from the front.
I'd heard some stories that there had been a dodgy batches of Febi top mounts, and as I am fantastically lazy I only wanted to take the suspension apart once.
The car is lowered on eibach sportline springs, fk lowering caps on sachs shocks
-
VW use Febi and another manufacturer which I now forgot the name (German name).

since end of march this year. Like where you are the roads round here are rubbish, they might as well have been ploughed. Also have to bounce up a high kerb onto my drive as well as loads of speed bumps.
The original mounts weren't in that bad a knick either, just replaced everything whilst it was apart.
-
I got cheap top mounts fitted to my last mk3 project, one of them split before it even seen the road. Was more or less driven in and out the garage and turned round a few times.
-
a lot of febi stuff is now made in china and the quality has suffered!
Meyle or lemforder are best (just a bit lot pricier)
