Guys,
I've just changed my steering wheel to an aftermarket one that does not cater for airbags.
The air bag light is on as you would expect, but i can't clear it? I've tried to erase the code it says its erased but its still on!!
I've plugged the switch back in so i can wire the horn in, but obviously had to snip the wires that connected to the airbag...
Question is, if i run a resistor between the wires will this allow me to disable the light?
any advice?
Cheers!

Prob a resistor will be needed but I'm not clued up on bags
-
was thinking the same thing earlier :P Do you know how i would fit a resistor and the best one to get? :)

Anyone :)

sure you need vagcom to disable the airbag light?
might be possible with vag tacho too but not sure?
take it to a garage if you dont have vagcom, they should only charge a tenner to do it if you take it to a smaller garage. or have a look see if anyone off here has it and can do it for a few beer tokens

just code out the airbag light with vag com pal go into can gateway and change the softcode from 0006 to 0002 this will code out the airbags you may as well do this as the airbags are disabled anyway with no steering wheel airbag

As above or use a resister that's like 30p from maplins, lots of guides online for that bud

Lovely cheers guys :)

Will a resistor trick the system into thinking the airbag is still attached? Will this resolve the problem so that the other airbags will deploy in an accident?
What resistor should i grab?
:P

TTT still not solved!

Have you tried coding it out with VAG COM

Not as of yet, I don't really know anyone around my area with VAG COM, unless you can recommend anyone within the south surrey reigon? :)
