Hi all
Just picked up
A mk3 gti 8v, when I unlock the car, both the windows come down
It has a sh!tty scorpion alarm on, so I don't think that has anything to do with it
Any help of where to start looking would be great
Thanks

When you open it does the key stick in the unlock position ?? Common for the barrels to fail /paddle to brake off , my n/s lock is really worn so when I turn the key , if I don't put the key back to the middle all the windows will drop ...
-
You can buy barrel repair kits and think they are cheapish
Im currently using my passenger door to lock/unlock
-
i have a clifford alarm, i knoiw its not same as yours, but mine was soing similiar thing. it turned out that if you lock then unlock it with a certain time it drops the windows. it thinks somthing might be trapped and is why it has been locked/ unlocked so close together
if thats not your case, disconnect battery for a bit and re connect see if that helps.
or if you can, try resetting your alarm??
-
Sounds stupid but how long are you holding key in unlock possition as they are ment to go down if you hold it there same as when you hold it in locking all windows close, all mk3s do this
-
The lock seems a little dodgy, just put a new battery on tonight and I turn the key to the right, it doesn't seem to spring back smoothly, then the windows open.
If I turn the key back manually with the door open, they both go back up, also the passenger door doesn't unlock??

These dark nights are ruining my fun with the car, cant see f^%k all.
I have just had another play with it, the barrels must be sticking or something, but if the central locking isnt working, what is telling both windows to open? or is that seperate from the locking system.

try getting some wd40 though the key hole, might help a bit?

So just had a look at the central locking pump, it had been disconnected, so after connecting it back up, tried to lock the doors and the pump was going mad, wouldn't stop.
Further inspection found the two air pipes, one black, and a blue one that went to nowhere, pumping air out, but couldn't find a pipe to join it to
Is this pipe heading to the doors???
-
Yes there should be one pipe going to each door as they are locked/unlocked by vacuum. Pump will keep running if there is a leak or pipes are cut for 30 seconds (safety shutdown).
Not sure anymore where the air pipes run along anymore, would guess they are in the cable tunnel that runs down along the sides between seats and outer body shells (take trim next to the seats off and you should see cableing and probably there will be a blue air tube). No idea where the Y pieces are.... Just make sure there's no leak after connecting everything up but don't use a sealent like silicone, you don't want the vacuum pump to suck that sh!t in...

Thanks for the info,
Turned out the open end was off the fuel flap locking system, re-connected and everything is working as it should
Just need to figure the windows opening now
