Title: airbox strong smell of fuel?

as above just disconnected the maf and there was was strong smell of fuel is this normal as i dont recall my old golf being like that.

1.8 turbo

If you disconnect the MAF, the ECU uses stock settings, so it will run richer than if you had the MAF connected

sorry only disconnected the maf to take the air box out.

it was smelling of fuel after i had been driving it i was putting in a new panel filter in and noticed it was smelling.

so the car is running rich for what reason could this be.

if its running rich you will smell it out the exhaust. Remember the engine breathers behind the maf iv never tryed sniffing mine but it proberly smell like a fuel smell.  :laugh:
