This time round I'm opening up the market. I have invited my local VAG meet and also the MK3OC (http://mk3golfowners.co.uk/forum/index.php), so expect non forum members to turn up, in a range of VAG and non VAG cars.
If you're interested, put down your name and what car you'll be bringing (make, model and engine). You are more than welcome to bring spectators, or be a spectator yourself!

Have you actually ever made it to an event?
-
I was going to say, I remember you putting yourself down for the list on a few occasions and never actually making it. As I said in the first post, only put your name down if you are 100% committed, otherwise I'll start a maybe list and put you down on that if you're happy? You can let me know when you're a confirmed then I can put you down in the running list
Just spoke to Kate, and the dates JKM have available are the 2nd of February and the 9th. 2nd is probably a better time as it's shortly after payday and not too near valentines day.
So, anyone have any problems with the 2nd of feb?
-
Not yet. Every intention to as always but things do come up.
Quite happy to be on a maybe list until closer to the time if need be :)
-
Due to personal circumstances I'm going to have to take my name off the list :(
-
Oi where's my invite?
I think Prawny wants in on this too, I'll direct him to this thread
-
Yes yes yes, x 1000%
JKM was the first dyno I ever put my car on, and will always be my benchmark for the car. Not been down there since the ko4/hybrid swap at all.

-
Just bang a 4 bar FPR in there before you go on, then they can't tell you it's lean :P
-
Due to personal circumstances I'm going to have to take my name off the list :(
Sorry to hear, hope whatever has happened goes ok :afro:

Looking forward this! Not been to JKM since sept 11 when it made 208bhp on a dying ko3S. Hoping to add at lest another 120-140bhp to that figure in feb!

really looking forward to this one :)

Me too, 8 cars from the Island comming
-
Not long now :) Bushed up some wishbones today ready to go on tomorrow after I've cleared the snow. Silverstone trackday next weekend, then JKM weekend after :)
-
don't worry about the wishbones, get on and do the hubs
-
That's my weekend on call  would have been good to come & put names to faces!
-
Put me down as a maybe. Its only 5mins away from my other half's house, depends if I can get my K03s fitted in time. I'll probably pop down to spectate regardless.
-
Not long now. But it does look like I will be in the MK4 and not the MK2 :(
-
Shall I put you down as Mk4 then Dave?
-
Dave I've put you as a Mk2 in the running order. If you want to confirm that to a mk4 let me know and I'll swap it over
-
Without wanting to complain at all, Why have I ended up so far down the running order
Is it because I've got a rich mans Golf (Audi ) and you're all being mean?
-
Because I'm doing it in order of relevance. VW's first, then other VAGs, then other makes.
-
I feel so unloved  badge snobbery is rife within our ranks
I thought we were all one big happy family
I'm going to go find some skoda owners to cry with
See you Saturday
-
You can hug the rest of the people outside of "the circle"
-
Leave it as mk2 at the mo as theres still a small chance the mk2 will be ready.
-
Sweet :afro:
-
With just a few days to go, is anyone else getting that ''what if my car's lost power and I've not noticed, then I'll have to fix it'' feeling?
Ok, just me then?
-
I always get that feeling
But I think this time she's up on power. Arse dyno tells me so. I've since opened up the throttle body a bit more and I'm trying a new airbox. I've also switched to Vpower rather than momentum99, which I have a feeling it's done me a favour. 164hp to beat.
-
Mine was unstrapped from the R-tech dyno at 353bhp, although on the road testing there were a few small issues with boost spiking from low revs, so Niki tweaked the N75 duty on spoolup and a big in the midrange to try and tame it a touch, and it didn't go back on the dyno afterwards as it was gone 6pm.
We never fully finished road testing the car because it was too late, so I don't really have any idea what it's current output will be! Especially on the famously cruel JKM rollers
-
Time will tell
-
Especially on the famously cruel JKM rollers
its only cruel to overinflated mk5 owner claims
-
Nah, it's cruel to everyone, but I think fairly honest really.
Worst one I saw was a chap with a mk4 ibiza IHI, who claimed it'd be 349bhp and it ran 272!
Is there something about mk5 owners and dyno comments I've missed? sounds like there's a story there
-
That was a good day, I don't think any of Mk5 boys made anywhere near their claimed power
-
ah, another dyno day where a certain group turn out throwing some big numbers around, and all go away miserable?
Always hugely funny
never quite so funny when it's your car though! Happened to me at JKM once, just two weeks after my st2 map was done, with a printout for 238bhp still warm from the tuners printer, they ran the car, and told me it was 197bhp and my turbo was totally shagged!
Not a fun drive home that day!
-
That was a good day, I don't think any of Mk5 boys made anywhere near their claimed power
it became a very important matter

-

I remember that. Poor Robin. They had a RR day this weekend gone, I wonder how many cowboys went hunting for horses there?
-
new tyres fitted, refuel and a quick check over tomorrow and I'm ready to go
-
I need to hope I can leave work early enough tonight to drive 150 miles home before the post office shuts, or I'm up at 0630 to get to the postoffice for 7am, so I can get my new forge 007 piston and rebuild the valve before I leave, then down to GSF on eastern road to pick up my new air filter which I'll fit in the carpark before it runs :D
Pump the tyres up to a more road friendly pressure, fill up the meth tank, and off we go!!!
-
I've got a front engine mount to rebuild today, using hockey pucks. I also have en exhaust leak to fix, gearbox mount to fit, pas belt and wash.
-
Bloody hell boys don't leave it too late lol
Nick you can always borrow my 007p if it doesn't work out
-
It's the classic pre dyno day rush. All mechanical niggles are to be fixed on this day, including niggles you could have done last week, but as you already planned a car day the day before the event, you've left everything for then.
I have some new wheels to go on today too :lipsrsealed:
-
I'm ok, just a quick fluid check in the morning and I'm good to go
-
I'm ok, just a quick fluid check in the morning and I'm good to go
Me too. Work all complete today although exhaust has started rubbing on the back axle, so that's a job for next week.
-
see you all in an hour or so lads :)
-
Great turnout and fun day :afro:
Prawny really great to meet you, massive privilege :afro:
Hopefully see you down at the socovag meets soon
Oh and nice seeing the IOW massive turn up in numbers again, as always lads :afro:
-
Absolutely cracking Day!
Massive thanks to Khare and others for organising it, and as always, a big thanks to Jim, Keith, and Kate for running a top day. I've been coming to JKM dyno days every year for over 6 years now and they never dissapoint.
Very nice to meet everyone, I won't name everyone because I'm useless and I'll forget someone, but Khare, Wazzer, DaveIOW, mk1 golf man, + everyone else! I've been chatting to Wes over PM's for months about all sorts of random crap, having met at JKM in 2008 and not seen him since, so nice to put a face to the name, again! haha.
Been worrying about how the car would perform all week, but I didn't need to as it did me proud on the rollers. Very happy with the result.
If anyone has any pics of vids it'd be cool to see them :)
-
Was watching wazzers result with close eyes. I understand JKM rollers are a bit cruel?
-
I have some vids, I will upload them when my phone battery is charged
-
Get a grpah up!
-
Hi mate sorry we had to rush off in the end to get the boat. Thanks again for the pipe, really saved me a lot of hassle there! Much apricated. Sadly my manifold also melted the plastic servo pipe lol
-
Russ had a scary moment at speed with no brakes...
-
Woops didn't realise there was another page when I replyed earlier lol. Doh. Yeah no brakes are not good

Is there a build thread for the mk2 16v that went on at the end ?
Yes, you'll probably find it scribbled on a prison wall somewhere, in russian.

Pmsl think ill give that read a miss
