Title: 1.8 t sputtering and struggling
Post by: helix2 on 27 October 2012, 23:29
hi, new to the 1.8t golf scene, i have a s reg with k03's turbo, walbro fuel pump, 440 injectors and a remap.

i have had a quick glance through the forum his my problems

bought the car 2 weeks ago now and got a blowing in the flexi bout a week ago now but its been fine to drive but today it was sputtering alot when accelerating and doesn't seem to shift as much as it did. it feels as if your driving a car thats just about to run out of fuel. would this relate to the blowing downpipe?

my other problem i have is my temp gauge, when the car is sat with the engine on it works fine and gets to 90 degrees as it should but when i start moving itll slowly start to drop back down to 0 degrees again untill i stop, would this be the temp sensor?

also when coming to a stop e.g traffic lights and i take it out of gear or put the clutch down the revs act as if youve just started the car up on a winters day. is this related to the temp sensor?

any help would be fab thanks!

For the spluttering problem, it might be a vacuum leak.

okay thanks, have already order temp sensor and thermostat as i thought thats what it would be.

okay thanks ill have a check tomorrow. would it have anything to do with the MAF or n75? im sorting exhaust out this week, if its nothing obvious at the moment would it be an idea to sort the exhaust out first may be down to 02 sensors?

It could be a vacuum leak, look at the hoses and hear for any suction noises. Could be the MAF, give it a clean and check for fault codes on vagcom.

If you've go a blow in the downpipe before the lambda it will cause problems as it won't adjust the fuelling properly

I mean the size of the injector. only really need 315cc's on a k03s and they commonly good for circa 270ish bhp.

You had the choice of which one to use!! As one I had on my straight thru and the other was for how u got it (but there was a slight leak when I had it on so I put the other one in  )

You like It then? I'm still car-less!!!!

Thermostat is less then an hour job mate

Pain in the backside to get to the thermostat though, easier to remove the alternator

well im not sure because ive only had the car a few weeks now and its a nail and a complete bodge, some how had 12 months mot with a cracked windscreen, mirror, busted rear light and more but i picked it up for pennies and it had recipts for all of the uprated work recently and very good mileage and recent cambelt water pump change. But back to the point theres recipts for a new thermostat and temp sensor a year ago and another recipt in feburary for another temp sensor so looks a bit supicious
