Hi guys can someone explain to me what the issues are with MK5 TDI as far as DPF problems are concerned , I have a good idea, got a mate who is looking to buy one on 08 plate thanks steve. :undecided:

What BHP is he looking at?
140's dont have DPF's.
its only the 170's with the DPF and they only suffer because people ignore the warning lights when they come on
Sensors tend to fail on them but people think doing a regen drive will cure it. Thats only a short term solution.
I did 15k mapped miles with my DPF and never had a days trouble :smug:

Thanks for that mate think its 140 BHP .

Should be fine then
Early ones had chocolate turbos and head problems. By 08 the problems were ironed out so he should pick up a tidy motor
They go very nicely when mapped

Just be careful as some of the last 140ps MK5's did have DPF's, was covered over on the MK5 GTi forum in depth.
I ran a 170ps TDi for 2 years and 80k miles with only a failed pressure sensor after 7k miles and then good as gold after then, was a great car and turned me back onto Golfs, hence the GTi purchase
Good luck.
