Title: GTi - Project thread....
Post by: Raffe on 27 October 2012, 13:08
I thought it would be a good idea to document the progress to my car so here we go....

As it was when we bought it in April earlier this year as a 2yo car with 9k miles, it was like brand new

Then the addition of the Eibach Sportline springs only, with the Bilstein B8 shocks to be added at a later date, sits much nicer and drives well;

Out with the old....

...and in with the new courtesy of Kenny, I have his old Blueflame CBE.

Not the best pic but it gives a good idea of how it looks on the car, and sounds great so far.

With the Carbonio intake to accompany which again sounds great and fitted perfectly

Next on the list is Revo Stage 2 to accompany the 3" Downpipe and 100 Cel CAT, but will need to wait until Feb when it will be fitted and mapped accordingly.

Big thanks to Kenny for doing some great deals on his cast offs, and thanks to you all for your help and advice to date

In all honesty it's only 4 months until the warranty runs out, planning on having an annual service, first MOT and mapping/DP all done in Feb...really not long to wait.

Heard good things about the 170ps CR engine when mapped, would love to do my Leon but it's not an option as a lease vehicle sadly. Sounds like you have already made your mind up

Quick little update...

Golf R LED rears on their way, early part of next week will post some pics once fitted.
Team Heko Wind Deflectors now fitted and what an improvement they have made.

Having just seen that Revo have a 20% sale I will be booking the car in for its Stage 2 map and fitting of the Downpipe within the next few weeks....can't wait

Will do some new pics once lights have been fitted

Wind Deflectors fitted, went for the slightly cheaper Team Heko efforts, £32 delivered from eBay, doing exactly the job expected and not looking bad atall.

looks much better. an expensive mod but it is a lot fresher looking

is your boot lid a bit high or bumper a bit low or is it just a funny angle? there looks to be a step where the boot lid lights meet the main tail light (especially above the GTI badge).

Thanks guys, even got the thumbs up from the wife so it must be an improvement.

Might need the rubber stops adjusting, I was squatting down taking pic though so could also be a Funny angle, will have a look tomorrow.

Are these oem parts or are they copy parts at that price.

Cheers

They are genuine VW parts.

My understanding is the pre 2010 cars need a new BCM, don't forget you also need the VCDS coding, having mine done tomorrow night which then turns off the bulb out warning light.
