Title: Clutch problems
Post by: luke on 26 October 2012, 15:18
Started happening recently, sometimes when driving and putting the clutch in to change gear it will click and be a bit stiff, then the clutch will bite lower and sometimes the pedal will not come back up, anyone had this problem, unsure what it could be

It sounds like the cable Luke, but could be wrong! I'd get a new cable fitted for how much they cost... but I wouldn't be surprised if the clutch is starting to drop to bits, with your description it could be either!

Same as Thom says; sounds like the cable is seizing or starting to go.
Try soaking WD40 round the linkages both ends and pumping the pedal to see if you can free it up.
That might tell you either way.

Fit a new cable as the 1st step and see if it makes a difference.

Fingers crossed it's sorted, the rubber bit at the end of the cable was out of line, moved it back in place and it seems fine, will give it a drive later to make sure, next job is insurance

Garage at work sorted me out, new clutch cable as the ratchet had gone, and insurance renewal is 699 which is good news all around

Renewed with admiral, I'm paying all upfront which is why it's as cheap as it is, fully comp with parents as named drivers plus I do around 5k mile a year to work and back

Would highly recommend them, always been with them as they are £1000 or more cheaper than other quotes
